James Eugene Evans

James Eugene Evans, age 80 of Clarkson, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 2, 1944, in Louisville, the son of the late James A. and Thelma (Ray) Evans.

A Vietnam Veteran, James was a great man who loved his wife and family fiercely. He always put others first and was willing to lend a helping hand. An honest and hardworking man he retired from Tube Turns as an inspector after 27 years. He was a member of West Point Masonic Lodge #921 and Shively Christian Church.

Left to honor James’ memory are his children, Kelly Marie Mullins, Tina Louise Layne, and James E. Evans II; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Ann Thren.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Louise (Leuenberger) Evans, who passed away in 2016; one son, Steven Douglas Evans; one sister, Janice Faye Monroe; and one brother, Carl Ray Evans.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Leitchfield Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clarkson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
