Betty J Ward

Betty J. Ward, age 85 of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at her residence. She was born on February 13, 1939, in Leitchfield, the daughter of the late Charlie and Mae (Blanton) White.

Betty was a member of Leitchfield First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of Girl Scouts. She was the best woman around in the eyes of her family. She loved children, she operated a daycare center, fostered sixteen children, and she loved cooking breakfast for children before school.

Left to honor Betty’s memory are her husband of 65 years, Roy C. “Ben” Ward, Sr.; two children, Roy C. Ward, Jr. and Deborah Saltsman (Danny); one granddaughter, Tiffany Necole Higdon; four great-grandchildren, Tayden, Tanner, and Tenley Logsdon and Rylee Higdon; and three sisters, Sylvia Embry, Janie Self, and Edna Persun (Jerry).

Aside from her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Richard Wayne Ward; one grandson, Patrick Higdon; and two brothers, Robert and Eddie White.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Leitchfield Funeral Home with Bro. Joey Decker officiating. Burial will be in Sanders Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and again from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
