Kathleen Whitworth

Kathleen Whitworth, age 90 of Big Clifty, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation in Leitchfield. She was born on August 29, 1934, in Solway, Kentucky the daughter of the late John Whitworth and Mattie Smallwood Lyons.

Kathleen attended Mt. Zion Church. She was a homemaker, who worked hard raising eleven children. She was very proud of her grandchildren, as well as, her yard and house, which she worked hard to take care of until her illness. In her free time She enjoyed country music, especially Loretta Lynn, and fishing and quilting.

Left to honor Kathleen’s memory are her children, Rosaleen Cassel, Gary Coogle, Shelia Williams, Ricky Coogle, Barbara Coogle, Shirl Dennis, Edna Pile, Debbie Jolly and Sharon Douglas; 29 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor McAtee and Irene Parrish.

Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by, four children, Dorothy, Shirley, Tony, and Eugene Coogle; 2 brothers, Coy and Strother Whitworth; and 3 sisters, Rosie Carmen, Berley Smallwood and Lena Mae Sanders.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am CST on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Leitchfield Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Board officiating. Burial will be in Smith’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm CST until 7:00 pm CST on Tuesday and again from 9:00 am CST until service time at the funeral home.
