Mary Loretta Smith, age 69, passed away at her son’s home in Leitchfield on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Loretta, as most knew her, was born on March 25, 1954 in Clarkson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert A. Smith, Jr. “Buddy,” whom she married on April 27, 1973 and they were the proud parents of one son, Mark Anthony Smith.
Loretta is survived by her son, Mark (Stacy) Smith as well as her only granddaughter, Macy-Kate Smith, who was the apple of her eye.
She was one of ten children born to the late Daymon & Mary Aileen Hill Bradley of Clarkson. She is survived by her brothers, Charles Ray (Marcia) Bradley of Leitchfield and Thurman Bradley of Townsend, Tennessee, and sisters, Diann Decker of Clarkson, Fayetta Kinard of McDonough, Georgia, Darlene (Francis) Belcher of Clarkson, and Vivian (Leon) Green of Olaton . She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Ernest Bradley, Luther Bradley and J.T. Bradley.
Loretta worked factory work for many years and always liked to keep busy. She loved to sew, to work outside in her flowers and to spend time in the kitchen, cooking for friends and family. A devoted woman of strong Catholic faith, she was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Clarkson, Ky.
She was one of the biggest prayer warriors here on this earth, and if she knew you had a need, you could be certain she was praying for you. Her concerns were always about the needs of others, even up until her last days. She always had a sweet spirit about her and was one of the most pleasant people you could ever encounter who always showed God’s love to everyone she met.
She was a dear friend to many and those who knew her were richly blessed. Her last days were filled with visits from many friends and family where she was given a chance to tell everyone how much she loved them.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be a private graveside service at a later date.
