Minor "Mac" Messenger, Jr. age 79 of Leitchfield, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his residence. He was born on April 22, 1943, in Bee Spring, Kentucky the son of the late Minor Woodrow, Sr. and Ruby Woodcock Messenger. Mac was a family man, always putting his family first. But that didn't stop him from being a father figure to everyone, especially the friends of his children and the people he worked with. To the children that he cared for so dearly, he and Anna were known as "Mom & Pop." He was also loved by the people of Core Mark, where he worked as the Transportation Manager for 38 years. In his free time, his passion was raising and training his coon dogs, riding horses, fishing and trading anything with anyone. Mac was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Coonhunter's Club. Left to honor Mac's memory, are his wife of 57 years, Anna Rose Higdon Messenger; two sons, Jorge Messenger (Tiffany) and Mike Messenger (Jennifer); three daughters, Sheila Brown (Kevin), Karen Lee Decker (Rodney) and Monica Reuther (Joey); six granddaughters, Ashley Constant, Kendrea Douthitt (Mike), Kayla Brown, Kaylee Decker, Brittany Cresson, Taylor Milam (Alexander); six grandsons, Neil Brown (WesleyAnne), Mason Decker, Tanner Decker, Dustin Messenger, Kyle Reuther (Katie), and Andrew Butler; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Horn, Landon Constant, Emmett Douthitt and Payton Douthitt; two brothers, Ted Messenger and Brian Messenger (Joann); two sisters, Patricia Lindsey and Debbie Durbin (John); one sister-in-law, Karla Messenger. Aside from his parents, Mac was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Chuck Messenger; one sister, Betty Gayle Messenger; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Messenger; one son-in-law, Donald Decker; and one grandson-in-law, Jeremy Cheek. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Brandon Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday and again from 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Thursday at Leitchfield Memorial Chapel in Leitchfield. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Leitchfield Memorial Chapel is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Messenger.
