Myrtle Petty Roof

Myrtle Petty Roof, age 80 of Big Clifty, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at her residence. She was born on January 23, 1943, in Big Clifty, the daughter of Oliver and Ressie Horn Petty.

Myrtle or "Turtle" as she was known was a true Woman of Faith, her love of God was shown in everything she did. She lived life for her children and grandchildren and always made you laugh with her good sense of humor. She would've given anything to anyone to help if she could. She always lived life to the fullest and was proud to have been able to see her fifth generation. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and enjoying a good meal with those that she loved.

Left to honor Myrtle's memory are her six children, Diane Love, Connie Thompson, Donnie Roof (Meredith), Shirley Roof, Jeannie Roof, and April Roof; nineteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Petty.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Roof; five brothers, Henry Thomas, Wilbur, Ivan, Paul, and Wavy Petty; two sisters, Mary Nell Chambers and Faye Risner; one grandson, Ricky Michael Carby, Jr.; and one great granddaughter, Avery Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Leitchfield Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday and again from 9:00 am until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
