Nancy Rae Carpenter

Nancy Rae Carpenter, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. She was born in Hardinsburg to the late Ormand Boyd and Mary Jane Adkins. Nancy worked at Prudential Insurance and later in life as a Housewife and Mother working full time as the General Manager at Captain D’s. She was also known as the “Mayor” of Whispering Oaks Subdivision at Rough River where she loved spending time on the lake with her friends and family. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Jerry Ray Carpenter; a sister, Barbara Dorsey; and a brother, Ormand Boyd Adkins, Jr.

Nancy is survived by her son, Steve Carpenter (Annette) of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Dustin West (Jill) and Amanda Jones (Brian); three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Cooper and Judah; and a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Leitchfield Memorial Chapel. Cremation was chosen. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time.
