Randy Vanmeter

November 11, 1940 — March 5, 2024

Randy VanMeter, age 83 of Leitchfield, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his residence. He was born on November 11, 1940, in Anneta the son of the late Nathan and Angie Decker VanMeter.

Randy was a member of McGrew Memorial General Baptist Church. He joined the Leitchfield Fire Department on September 1, 1961. He was dedicated to serving his community and was a very kind and humble man.

Left to honor Randy’s memory are his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Sue VanMeter; one daughter, Linda Sanders (Larry); two sons, Randy, Jr. (Andrea) and Chuck (Carina) VanMeter; twelve grandchildren, Brandy Tomes, Angie Webb, Cindy Mangan, Travis VanMeter, Danielle Bishop, Kassey Reinheimer, Brianna VanMeter, Levi VanMeter, Nathan VanMeter, Caleb Fisher, Jacob Fisher and Shelbi Terry; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was the youngest of eighteen children who all preceded him in death, along with his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Leitchfield Funeral Home with Bro. Travis VanMeter and Bro. Wayne Clemons officiating. Burial will be in McGrew Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm on Saturday and again from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
