William G. Thompson, Jr.

May 12, 1959 — August 20, 2024

William G. Thompson, Jr., age 65 of Falls of Rough, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2024. Born on May 12, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky, William was the beloved son of Margaret and William G. Thompson, Sr.

William’s journey in life was marked by his deep commitment to family and his quiet, steadfast presence. He married his high school sweetheart, Terri Wooldridge, on September 3, 1977. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, celebrating nearly 47 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two children who were the pride and joy of their lives.

William retired in December 2023 from The Roosevelt House in Owensboro, Kentucky, where he dedicated many years of service. His true passion, however, was his home – one he crafted with his own hands and where his heart resided.

A man of few words, William expressed his love through actions. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and cherished the joy of watching his team play. He also loved traveling, with Jamaica holding a special place in his heart as his favorite vacation destination.

William was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Ann “Tootsie” Schraffenberger, Kathy Hicks, and Dola Kessinger.

He leaves behind a loving family who will dearly miss him: his devoted wife, Terri (Wooldridge) Thompson; his daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Jason Hicks; his son and daughter-in-law, William G. III “Billy” and Santana Thompson; and his five grandchildren: Kerrigan Coyne (Patrick), Kaitlynn Hicks (Zach), Chance Keith, Gabriella Keith (Hayden), and Addison Hicks.

William is also survived by his sister, Janice Bullock; his brother, David Thompson (Debbie); his brothers-in-law, Chuck Wooldridge (Rohn) and Troy Wooldridge (Becky); and his beloved four-legged babies, Molly, Ginger, and Betty. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him always.

A private service will be held to celebrate William’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Basset Rescue of Kentuckiana (www.bassetrescuekentuckiana.org) in William’s honor.

William’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who know and loved him. May he rest in peace.
